The concept for My Wee Folk first came about during the Covid-19 pandemic. We were on lockdown at my parents house in the Scottish countryside and I was desperately trying to come up with ways to keep the kids entertained, without driving myself insane.
This is when I learnt that not only does my son love sensory and small world play but actually so do I, it's great fun to set up and it can be played with in so many different ways depending on your mood or theme.
The only negative thing about it all was that it took so long to set up. I mean, during lockdown we had plenty of spare time but it did get me thinking about how many kids are missing out on this type of play because their parents simply don't have the time to do it.
I knew then that I wanted to create a product that is quick to set up and tidy away, but also allows children to have lots of creative play, and so our first product, Play on a Plate, was born.
The pandemic taught us that we really need to appreciate and celebrate the simpler things in life, being comfortable, getting outside and spending time with family. With this in mind we created My Wee Folk, the family concept store for simple living, inspired by the great outdoors.
Our mission is to make life easier for families who are interested in modern adventures, open ended play and making more eco-conscious choices.
